And a big grown up Happy Birthday

A HUGE thank you to everyone for their generosity at the Easter Egg hunt. It was a huge success and we raised a total of £150. This is yet to be spent.

Please ask if you would like to know what training is planned for future months.
Please join me in welcoming Kate to the nursery bank staff. And Charlotte Spencer will be joining the team and working within Caterpillars.
Monday 30th May is another well-earned bank holiday. The nursery will be closed and parents will not be
charged for this day. Last month, the newsletter featured a brief overview of Parent Voices and their role. They recently held a
meeting and minutes from this meeting can be obtained, upon request. If you have any items you would like
brought to a meeting, please make one of the Parent Voices aware. Their contact details can be found at the
entrance of each area within the nursery.
The yellow Zig-Zag area outside the nursery will hopefully be made a larger area this month and will allow any visitors to the nursery to have better visibility when entering and exiting the car park. Please remember to park courteously within the nursery car park and not block others or leave your car parked in the tarmacked driveway. It gets extremely busy at drop off and pick up times and becomes dangerous when this occurs.
The focus for the staff meeting this month, is SEJAR (Self Evaluation Joint Annual Review), which is for the
whole nursery along with our Advisory Teacher.
Following a recent Governors meeting, it was agreed the introductory scheme will end on 30th June 2011. Any introductions already made will be honoured.
As of May, we have introduced a new menu. It will include different meats, different styles of cooking and seasonal vegetables. The weekly set menus are displayed in each area of the nursery. If you do have any queries or suggestions in respect to the menu, then please do chat with your child’s team leader or mention to a member of the Parent Voices.
In addition to our new fresh menu, we are introducing a very much needed ventilation system within the kitchen. Hopefully this will keep the cooks preparing the fresh food, nice and fresh themselves.
Pre-School has had some slight changes and some nice new additions. The reading corner has been made into a snug area with plenty of soft cushions and a bright funky canopy which creates a restful area to read. The home corner has some new items, which allows the children to stretch their imaginations and play imaginatively. The layout of the room as been moved about to allow the children better access to Resources and a larger area play.
A great amount of effort has gone into creating our very own ‘garden centre’ outside and within this area is a small vegetable patch for the children to care for. It is proving to be extremely popular with the children and is a great way to encourage them to be interested in a wide variety of vegetables.
If that wasn’t enough - we are also in the process of developing the outside area further to incorporate more language and literacy resources.
